Mildred Irene Borchert

Mildred Irene Malmanger was born February 26, 1917 in a home in Waverly Township, Truman, Minnesota to Marie (Johnson) & Edward J. Malmanger. At a very young age, Ole S. Olsen became "Dad?. She grew up on a farm west of Truman with siblings Earl and Margarite (Bock). She attended the Boynton Country School, District 107, walking a mile and a half each day until Winter when their Dad took them to school with the horse and sleigh. She was confirmed by Reverend Heineman at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in 1931. She was married to Ernest C. Borchert at St. Paul's on April 17, 1938 by Reverend Heineman. They had two children: Karen and James. She was married to Ernest for 55 years until his death on August 14, 1993. Mildred entered the Lutheran Manor in November of 2006. Mildred sang in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Choir for 63 years and was an active member of the Ladies Aid and Ester Circle, serving many meals at church, quilting, embroidering etc. She was an avid gardener and treated everyone to her home cooked meals. She enjoyed playing cards and loved all sports, especially the Minnesota Twins. She enjoyed her birds and deer on the farm. Mrs. Borchert died on Monday, October 6, 2008 at Truman Senior Living in Truman. Mildred is survived by her children: Karen Stratton Wood (Rod Wood), of La Jolla, CA and James E. Borchert; of Bloomington, MN; Grandchildren: Brent A. Stratton and wife Marti, of La Jolla, CA and Carly Rundle-Borchert; Great-grandchildren: Ashley and Madison Stratton; beloved nephew, Arlen Bock and wife Bonnie of Truman; Brother-in-law, Harold V. Bock; Sister-in-law, Irene Dyslin Malmanger of Madelia and many more beloved nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
