Lee Charles Burmeister, son of Albert and Caroline (Klein) Burmeister, was born on December 26, 1925 in Waverly Township, Martin County, Minnesota. He was baptized on April 25, 1926 in Welcome and confirmed on June 20, 1940 in Sherburn. Lee attended school in Waverly Township and in Sherburn. He enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and had served as a cook in the Pacific, Korea and Viet Nam. He retired from the Navy in 1970. His marriage to Janet Nolte took place on November 12, 1966 in Richfield, Minnesota. They lived near Fairmont after their marriage. He was a long time resident of Martin county and had been employed at the Welcome Locker, the Holiday Inn and Fairmont Foods in Fairmont. Lee was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont, the American Legion and VFW in Fairmont, and had been a member of the American Legion Welcome and the American Legion and VFW in Sherburn. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and going to coffee with friends. His wife Janet died in 1998. Lee moved to Truman Senior Living in November of 2005.
Lee is survived by his son, Chris of Mankato; sister-in-law, Marguerite Burmeister of Fairmont; brother-in-law, Jerome (Sharon) Nolte of Brainerd and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Lloyd and Earl and sisters, Ione and Helen.
