Eldor Gerhardt Julius Breitbarth

December 15, 1925 — February 29, 2008

Eldor Gerhardt Julius Breitbarth was born on December 15, 1925 in Antrim Township, Watonwan County, MN to Otto and Theresa Zinke Breitbarth. Eldor attended parochial school at St. John's Lutheran School-Antrim. Eldor farmed in Antrim Township. On June 13, 1948, Eldor married Lois Olhoft in Wheaton, MN. They continued to farm in Antrim Township, Watonwan County, MN. Eldor worked at Tony Downs in Madelia for eighteen years. Eldor and Lois worked as custodians at St. Paul's Lutheran Church and School in Truman for eight years and worked various other custodial jobs. Eldor was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont and was an AA member for 21 years. While he was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church-Antrim, he held numerous church offices. Eldor loved playing cards, visiting, bird watching and spending time with his grandchildren and family. Eldor and Lois enjoyed going on bus tours and traveling. Mr. Breitbarth died on February 29, 2008 at the Fairmont Medical Center. Eldor is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois Breitbarth of Truman; one daughter, Barbara Vandrey of Truman; four sons, Pastor Steven Breitbarth (Janelle) of Chisholm, MN, Alan Breitbarth (Cathy) of Truman, Neal Breitbarth (Juleen) of Fairmont, Paul Breitbarth (Dianne) of Ankeny, IA; fourteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Marion Breitbarth of Truman. Eldor was preceded in death by his parents; one son-in-law and two brothers, one of which was his twin. Memorial contributions may be given to Martin Luther High School or to the Lutheran Hour Ministries.
