Funeral services for Viola J. Vaux, 90, Truman, MN will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 1:00 pm at Community Baptist Church in Truman with Rev. Penny Ritter officiating. Interment will take place at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Truman. Mrs. Vaux died on Wednesday morning, November 21, 2007 at the Fairmont Medical Center-Mayo Health Systems, Fairmont. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services in the church. Zaharia Family Funeral and Cremation Service of Truman, is handling the arrangements for the family.
Viola J. Ratzlaff was born on June 6, 1917 on the family farm in Jackson County, MN to John and Helen (Duerksen) Ratzlaff. She attended school in Mountain Lake, MN graduating from Mountain Lake High School. After high school she worked in Illinois, Colorado and New Jersey. Viola married George Robert Vaux on July 13, 1943 in Mountain Lake, MN. After WWII, Viola and George moved to Truman. George passed away in 1982. Viola continued living in Truman until entering Lakeview Methodist Home in Fairmont on August 1, 2007. Viola was a member of Community Baptist Church in Truman, was active with the Cub Scouts earning the Silver Fawn Award. This is the highest award for a female volunteer leader in Cub Scouts. She enjoyed gardening, scrap booking, letter writing, post mark collecting and her birds. She was an avid reader, loved the MN Twins, Kirby Puckett and the Vikings.
Viola is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Janeen and Louis Gueltzow, St. Louis Park, MN; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Steven and Sha6ron Nelson-Vaux, Jon Vaux of San Diego, CA, Charles and Karen Vaux of Pipestone, MN; four grandchildren, Erin (Pat), Scott, Lacey (Chad) and Adam (Camrin); three great grandchildren, Easton, Audrey, Margo; and other family members. Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her beloved sister, Ethel.
Memorial contributions may be given to Community Baptist Church in Truman.
