Wilbert Fred Wolf was born on July 7, 1919 on the Northstar Farm in Galena Township, rural Martin County, MN to Henry H. and Rosie (Neuenschwander) Wolf. He was baptized on October 5, 1919 and confirmed on April 9, 1933, both at St. John's Evangelical Church in Fairmont. Wilbert's family later moved to a farm in Westford Township and he attended School Dist. 75. On October 28, 1939 Wilbert was united in marriage to Eleanor Cowing at St. John's United Church of Christ in Fairmont. Following their marriage, they farmed in Nashville Township for 3 years. Wilbert and Eleanor moved to Fairmont in 1944 where he worked for the City of Fairmont for 31 years, retiring in 1981.
Wilbert was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont since 1944. He loved to do woodworking and built bird houses.
Wilbert is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eleanor of Fairmont; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Andrea Wolf of Houston, TX; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathaleen and Ronald Malo of Fairmont; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond and Lawrence and one sister Esther Warden. He was preceded in death by his parents.
