Vera Emma Olson

Vera Emma Koffarnus was born on Jan. 7, 1917 in Welcome Village, MN to Joseph and Martha (Borchardt). She attended country school at Fox Lake. On Jan. 9, 1938 Vera was united in marriage to Lawrence Oswalt at the Welcome American Lutheran Parsonage. They had one son, Wells Oswalt. They farmed by Dolliver, IA and later divorced. Vera married Gordon R. Olson on Oct. 21, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Welcome, MN. They lived in Fairmont where Vera was a hairdresser for 22 years. She also worked at the Stokely Canning Factory and took care of Gordon before his death in 1984. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fairmont. Vera is survived by one son, Wells Oswalt of Oshkosh, WI; sisters-in-law, Norma Jean Olson, Janet Olson, Virginia Benshoter, all of Fairmont, Janice DeMarce of Austin, MN, Heloise Olson of Phoenix, AZ; one brother-in-law, Clair Olson (Jean) of Foley, AL; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon; two sisters, Ida Van Ripen and Edna Hartjen and one brother, Edward Koffarnus.
