LaVerta Anola Riewe

Funeral services for LaVerta A. Riewe, 90, Truman, formerly of Vernon Center, MN, will be held on Monday, January 8th, 2007 at St. John's Lutheran Church-Willow Creek, at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in the church North cemetery. LaVerta died on Thursday, January 4th, 2007 at the Lutheran Manor in Truman. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 7th, 2007 from 2-5:00 pm at Zaharia Family Funeral and Cremation Service of Truman and one hour before the services in the church. LaVerta Anola Ulrich was born on Nov. 20th, 1916 to Walter and Alma (Zempel) Ulrich in Pleasant Mound Township, Blue Earth County, MN. She was baptized on Dec. 3rd, 1916 and confirmed on April 13, 1930 by Rev. Cloeter at St. John's Lutheran Church-Willow Creek. She attended Willow Creek Parochial School #2. She then attended Amboy High School for two years after which she helped her family on the farm. She was united in marriage to Edgar Fredrich Riewe on July 13, 1941 by Rev. Schramm at St. John's Lutheran Church-Willow Creek. They were blessed with one daughter, Judith. They farmed on the Riewe family farm near Vernon Center and retired in 1971. They moved to Amboy in 1985 and Edgar passed away on Nov. 15th, 1985. LaVerta remained in Amboy until 2001 when she moved to the Lutheran Manor in Truman where she resided until her death. LaVerta was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church-Willow Creek, where she was active in Dorcas and other activities. She was also active in senior citizens activities and card clubs. LaVerta is survived by her daughter, Judith Hinrichs and her husband William of Amboy, MN; granddaughters, Tamera Sonnabend and husband Dean of Vernon Center and Ann Langworthy and husband Peter of Mapleton; four great grandchildren, Brittany, Joshua and Rachel Sonnabend and Julia Langworthy; one brother, Delphin Ulrich and his wife Phyllis of Hayward, WI; three nephews, Wilton Urban, Tom Ulrich, Rick Ulrich and one niece, Doris Conrad and husband Veril. LaVerta was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Edgar. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Martin Luther High School or St. John's Lutheran Church-Willow Creek
