Mildred Emma Heckman was born on May 16, 1928 in St. James, MN to Herman and Meta (Lange) Heckman. She was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church-South Branch on June 3, 1928 and confirmed in 1942. Milly attended parochial school at St. John's Lutheran School-South Branch and graduated from high school in St. James. She was employed as a medical assistant for Dr. O. B. Bergman in St. James. On October 23, 1948, Mildred was married to Kenneth LeRoy Coleman at St. John's Lutheran Church-South Branch. They farmed in the South Branch area until 1994 and continued to live there. Milly was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church-South Branch where she was an active member of its Ladies Aid for many years. She enjoyed gardening, reading, baking and cooking for the family. Milly loved spending time with her family and especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Milly is survived by her husband of 57 years, Kenneth Coleman of rural Truman; four daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Salden and her husband Richard of Chaska, MN, Julie Atkinson and her husband Jerome of Wichita, KS, Marlys Melchert and her husband Dennis of Fairmont, MN, Laurie Wilson and her husband Calvin of Carver, MN; five grandchildren, Justin (Janet) Atkinson, Nathan Atkinson, Angie (Duane) Symanietz, Samantha Salden, Andy Melchert; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Atkinson, Taylor Symanietz; one brother, Harvey Heckman and his wife Lois, of rural St. James, MN and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
