Evelyn Jean DeVoll was born on March 16th, 1927 in Madelia, MN to Willard and Ina (Lewis) DeVoll. She grew up in rural Madelia. She attended schools there graduating from Madelia High School. After high school she moved to Kansas City where she attended Howard Hughes Air Traffic Control School. Evelyn returned to Madelia where she met W. Charles Schofield. She married Charles on March 15th, 1947 in Madelia. They farmed near Madelia until moving to the state of Washington in 1951. In 1953 they returned to Minnesota to farm near Nashville Township. They farmed in Nashville Township for forty-seven years. Charles died on April 16th, 1990. Evelyn moved into Fairmont in May of 2004 where she resided at Woodland Manor. She was very active in the Oles-Reader-Bosshart American Legion Auxiliary Unit 115, Fairmont Flower Club, Nashville 4-H Club, Royal Neighbors and the Nashville Community Chest. Evelyn loved gardening, feeding and watching birds and cooking.
Evelyn is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Kwi Schofield, Saginaw, MN, and Brian and Jeanne Schofield of Fairmont; five grandchildren, Georgette Benidt and husband Dan, Shane Schofield and special friend Mary Beth, Kellin Schofield, William Schofield and special friend Nicole, Leigh Ettesvold and husband Tyler; six great grandchildren; one brother, Royce DeVoll (Betty), Eagan, MN; one sister Connie Lindstrom (Curt), Ogilvie, MN and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers and one sister.
