Martin Hermann Tonn was born at home in Amboy, MN to Hermann and Rosa (Schwarz) Tonn on May 11, 1934. He attended parochial school at St. John's Lutheran School-Willow Creek and Amboy High School. He graduated from Bethany High School and College in Mankato. Martin was in the US Army from 1953-1955 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. On June 17th, 1956, Martin married Lorraine Urban at St. John's Lutheran Church-Willow Creek. They farmed their entire married life in the Willow Creek area. During that time, Martin was involved in alternative energy, was Secretary - Treasurer of Pleasant Mound Insurance Co. and held numerous offices in the church including Chairman of the Congregation, Choir Director and Organist. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church-Willow Creek. Martin loved visiting with family and friends.
Martin is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lorraine of Amboy, MN; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Ralph Slaker and Carolyn and Steven Kopacek, both of Maple Grove, MN; two sons and daughter-in-law, Roger and Barbara Tonn of Amboy and Daniel Tonn of Brooklyn Park, MN; seven grandchildren, Sara and Megan Slaker, Elizabeth, Rebecca and Nathan Kopacek, Kevin and Jared Tonn and one sister, Lois Tonn-Peterson, Minneapolis, MN. Martin was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul; one grandson and one sister-in-law, Violet Tonn.
