Martin Hermann Tonn

Martin Hermann Tonn was born at home in Amboy, MN to Hermann and Rosa (Schwarz) Tonn on May 11, 1934. He attended parochial school at St. John's Lutheran School-Willow Creek and Amboy High School. He graduated from Bethany High School and College in Mankato. Martin was in the US Army from 1953-1955 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. On June 17th, 1956, Martin married Lorraine Urban at St. John's Lutheran Church-Willow Creek. They farmed their entire married life in the Willow Creek area. During that time, Martin was involved in alternative energy, was Secretary - Treasurer of Pleasant Mound Insurance Co. and held numerous offices in the church including Chairman of the Congregation, Choir Director and Organist. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church-Willow Creek. Martin loved visiting with family and friends. Martin is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lorraine of Amboy, MN; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Ralph Slaker and Carolyn and Steven Kopacek, both of Maple Grove, MN; two sons and daughter-in-law, Roger and Barbara Tonn of Amboy and Daniel Tonn of Brooklyn Park, MN; seven grandchildren, Sara and Megan Slaker, Elizabeth, Rebecca and Nathan Kopacek, Kevin and Jared Tonn and one sister, Lois Tonn-Peterson, Minneapolis, MN. Martin was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul; one grandson and one sister-in-law, Violet Tonn.
