Elfrieda Emily Kusick

Funeral services for Elfrieda E. Kusick, 94, Truman, MN, formerly of Fairmont, will be held on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005 at 1:30 pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Truman. Interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont. Mrs. Kusick died Saturday evening, November 19th, 2005 at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Truman. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10-11:00 am at the Lutheran Retirement Home and for one hour prior to the services in the church. Zaharia Family Funeral and Cremation Service of Truman is in charge of the arrangements. Elfrieda Emily Sauck was born on November 25, 1910 in Pleasant Prairie Township, Martin County, MN to August and Lydia (Beck) Sauck. Elfrieda was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fairmont, MN by Rev. O.H. Zemke on December 11th, 1910 and was confirmed by him as well on April 13th, 1924. She attended parochial school at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Fairmont. On August 30th, 1930 Elfrieda married Hugh Kusick. They lived in Fairmont until 1948. They farmed near Truman for five years before moving back to Fairmont where she worked for Wolf's Department Store and the canning factory. She retired in 1971. Elfrieda and Hugh spent three years in Lomita, California. Hugh died on August 18th, 1974. Elfrieda moved to Truman in 1985 and lived in the Booz Apartments. She entered the Lutheran Retirement Home on April 17th, 1995. Elfrieda was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Truman and the ladies aid society. She enjoyed bible classes, Sunday church, playing piano and singing, tours, sewing, gardening, watching TV and visiting with friends and family. Elfrieda is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Marie Schaefer and her husband Byron of Lewisville and Joan Schwarz of Yucca Valley, CA; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son-in-law, Kenneth; four brothers, Otto, Adolph, Gerhardt and Harold and six sisters Elizabeth, Regina, Agnes, Lydia, Leona and Clara. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Truman or to Martin Luther High School in Northrop.
