Maurice Lee Samlaska

Graveside services for Maurice L. Samlaska will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont with military honors conducted by Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222 and Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36. Mr. Samlaska died Monday, October 31, 2005 at his home in Fairmont. Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation Service of Fairmont arranged services for the family. Maurice Lee Samlaska was born May 5, 1926 in Lewisville, Minnesota to Ernest and Blanche Abbott Samlaska. Following his education he served in the United States Navy. Maurice married Janice DeWar. Survivors include one son, Kenneth and wife, Linda Samlaska of Faribault, MN; one daughter, Sharon and husband Wayne Mattson of Webster, MN; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, James Samlaska of WI and AZ; two sisters-in-law, Cynthia Samlaska of Fusen, Germany and Patricia Samlaska of Fairmont, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Dean; brothers, Glen and William; and sister, Violet Hamsmith.
