Arthur Dietrich Grefe

Funeral services for Arthur Grefe, 82, Truman, MN, will be held on Wednesday, September 21st, 2005 at 11:00 am at St. James Lutheran Church, Northrop, with Rev. Robert C. Trueblood officiating. Interment will take place at the church cemetery with full military honors by the Martin County VFW Post 1222, the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and the Oles-Reader-Bosshart American Legion Post 115. Art died Sunday morning, September 18th, 2005 at the Fairmont Medical Center-Mayo Health Systems. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5-7:00 pm at Zaharia Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Truman and one hour before the services in the church Wednesday. Arthur Dietrich Grefe was born on September 17th, 1923 in Rutland Township, Martin County, MN to Herman and Martha (Dickman) Grefe. He was baptized and confirmed at West Rutland Church by Rev. A. M. Beck. Arthur attended West Rutland Lutheran School. Arthur served in the armed forces from 1945 through 1947. After his discharge, he courted and married Norma Becker on February 8th, 1948. They farmed until the mid 1980's and sold seed corn in Westford Township until the mid 1990's. In 1976, Arthur and Norma moved into Truman. Arthur was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Northrop; the Oles-Reeder-Bosshart American Legion, Truman and the Martin County VFW Post 1222. Arthur is survived by his loving wife Norma, Truman, MN; one daughter, Twyla Grefe of St. James, MN; two sons and daughters-in-law, Byrce and Karen Grefe of Weymouth, MA and Mark and Sandy Grefe, Truman, MN; two granddaughters, Richelle Pryor of Arizona and Jacy Kosbab of Truman; one great grandson, Jack James Kosbab of Truman and one brother, Louis Grefe and his wife Joyce of Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be sent to Martin Luther High School in Northrop.
