Funeral services for Esther Quindel, 90, Truman, MN, will be held on Friday, Sept. 9th, 2005 at 2:00 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church, South Branch, rural St. James, MN. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. Mrs. Quindel died Monday, Sept. 5th, 2005 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Truman. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services in the church Friday. Zaharia Family Funeral and Cremation Service of Truman is in charge of the arrangements. Esther Friedericka Maria Vogt was born on September 30th, 1914 in Martin County, MN, to Herman and Bertha Scheer Vogt. She attended parochial school at St. John's Lutheran School-South Branch, rural St. James, MN. After her mother's death, she helped her father take care of her siblings. Esther married Fred Quindel on August 27th, 1933 at St. John's Lutheran Church-South Branch. They lived in South Branch, rural St. James where she was a farm wife. Esther worked at the Lutheran Retirement Home. She retired in 1980. Fred died in 1984. Esther resided in the Park Apartments in St. James, assisted living in Fairmont in 1999 and into the Lutheran Manor 2003. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church-South Branch and it's ladies aid. Esther enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing and quilting. Esther is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Darlene Quindel, St. James, MN; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Gary Curry of St. James, MN and Elaine and Gene Dixon of Greenwood, FL; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 4 great, great grandchildren; one brother, Harry Vogt and his wife Ruth of St. James, MN; two sisters, Hildegard Grev of Shakopee, MN and Elfriede Anderson of Hanska, MN; three sisters-in-law, Esther Vogt of Fairmont, Verona Vogt of Sauk Center and Barbara Vogt of Edina, MN. Esther was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Gerald; one great grandchild; four brothers and one sister.
