Funeral service for Gladys Murray, 103, of Fairmont, Minnesota will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2005, at the United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Burial will follow the service at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. Mrs. Murray died Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Zaharia Family Funeral and Cremation Service arranged services for the family. Gladys Opal Bump, was born November 21, 1901 to Albert and Ethel Wicks Bump in Nevada, Iowa. She moved to Minnesota when Gladys was sixteen years old. Gladys was united in marriage to Donovan Murray on February 2, 1921. Following their marriage the couple farmed in Rolling Green Township, Martin County, Minnesota. Donovan died September 26, 1951. She worked for Hilda and Nina's Dress Shop. Gladys then worked at the Fairmont Community Hospital in the kitchen and later went to Kansas City to take care of one year old twins and a five year old. She was the head of a cleaning group at a fishing resort. Gladys is a member of the United Methodist Church in Fairmont, it's Ladies Aid and the garden club. Her hobbies include sewing, gardening and cooking. Gladys enjoyed playing cards, reading and was active in many activities at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center where she has made her home for many years. Her family was her life. Survivors include her daughters, Donna Domek of Fairmont, Minnesota and Sandra Tenney and husband Darrel of Myra Loma, California, sons, Gerald Murray and wife Marilyn of Bozeman, Montana and Jack Murray and wife Isa of Boston, Massachusetts; 15 grandchildren; 33 great- grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren and 2 great-great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; daughter, Marjorie Kirsch; and son-in-law, Wayne Domek.
