Ardis Jeanette Snyder

Funeral services for Ardis J. Snyder, 84, of Truman, Minnesota will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2005 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman with the Rev. Nathan Rusert officiating. Burial will follow the service in Ridgelawn Memorial Park in Truman. Mrs. Snyder died Sunday, June 12, 2005 at the Lutheran Retirement Home in Truman. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at Zaharia Family Funeral and Cremation Service in Truman and one hour prior to the service at the church. Ardis Jeanette Westlund was born April 28, 1921 to Maynard and Mabel (Syverson) Westlund in Ormsby, Minnesota. She was baptized at Long Lake Lutheran Church in rural St. James, Minnesota. After living in Ormsby and Odin, Minnesota, she moved at age 8 with her family to St. James. She was confirmed at First Lutheran Church in St. James and graduated from St James High School in 1939. She worked at Carl's Music Store, Tubular Micrometer Company and the Watonwan County Nurse's office in St. James. She married Robert Snyder on February 16, 1946, at First Lutheran Church in St. James. After their marriage they lived briefly in Farmington, Minnesota, where Robert was employed with Central Telephone Company. In September 1946, they moved to Truman when Robert was transferred to become the manager of the Truman and Lewisville telephone exchanges. They continued to live in Truman and resided at the Lutheran Manor and the Lutheran Retirement Home. Ardis was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman where she was active in the Ladies Aid and Dorcas Circle for many years. She was also a member of the Truman American Legion Auxiliary and the Lutheran Retirement Home Auxiliary, the Mother's Club and was a Cub Scout den mother. She is survived by her husband, Robert Snyder of Truman, Minnesota; one son, DuWayne and wife Grace Snyder of Tucson, Arizona; one daughter, Gail and husband Shan Sacranie of Naperville, Illinois; four grandchildren, Jonathan and David Snyder of Tucson, Arizona and Jamal and Narissa Sacranie of Naperville, Illinois; one brother, Dale and wife Alice Westlund of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Eunice and husband Ronald Mutch of Mankato, Minnesota and Myrna and husband Eldon Quiring of Butterfield, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Marlyn and Orland Westlund.
