Marvin Leonard Hoscheid

June 16, 1931 — March 8, 2005

Marvin Leonard Hoscheid was born June 16, 1931 to Leonard and Martha (Bonin) Hoscheid in Truman, MN. His attended school and graduated from Truman High School in 1949. Marvin served in the United States Navy from 1949 to 1955 aboard the USS Vesole where he was a sonar man during the Korean War. On September 12, 1953 he was united in marriage to Mary Brain at St. Michael's R.C. Church in Jersey City, New Jersey. Following his honorable discharge, Marvin worked with his father in the family business, Hoscheid Construction until 1972. Marvin and his son, Mark owned Hoscheid Excavating, digging graves for area cemeteries for many years. Marvin was an active member of St. Katherine's Catholic Church of Truman, Minnesota. He was also a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and as very active in the KC's until his health began to fail. He was a Boy Scout leader for seven years in Truman, a 20 year member of the Truman Fire Department and was also a lifetime member of Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1222. His passion was fishing and hunting and he also loved to do woodworking and gardening. His family was his life. Marvin and Mary celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on September 12, 2003. Marvin is survived by his wife, Mary Hoscheid of Truman, MN; daughter, Mona Hoscheid of Truman, MN; daughter-in-law, Julie Hoscheid of Truman, MN; seven grandchildren: Angela Marie and her husband, Joe; Terry and son, Shane; Christina Lynn and her husband, Blake and their children, Courtney, Mackenzie and Riley; Jeremy and his wife, Ann and their children, Kayla and Cody; Brian Wymer and his daughter, Ivy; Patrick Hoscheid and his wife, Jaclyn and their son, Connor and Suzanne Shoemaker. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Martha Hoscheid; his son, Mark Hoscheid and a grandson, Chad Hoscheid; two brothers, Alvin, in infancy and Howard Hoscheid. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association.
