Ervin E. Borkenhagen

Ervin E. Borkenhagen was born May 9, 1918 in Pleasant Mound Township, Blue Earth County, MN, to Gus and Matilda (Salisburg) Borkenhagen. He attended parochial school at Trinity Lutheran School-Fieldon and school district 83. Following his education, he farmed with his father. On April 14th, 1940, Ervin married Della Gieseke at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairmont. They lived in Truman for one year where Ervin worked for Jennings Blacksmith. Ervin and Della moved to the farm in 1941 and farmed until retiring in 1979. Ervin was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church-Fieldon. He was also a member of the Truman Gun Club where he served as president and is an honorary director. He was always building and fixing things in his machine shop. Hunting and taking care of Della were Ervin's passions. Ervin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Della, Amboy, MN; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diana Griffin and her husband, John, Fairbanks, AK, Bonnie Adams and her husband James, McIntosh, MN; two sons and daughter-in-law, Glenn Borkenhagen and his wife Terry, White Bear Lake, MN and Jay Borkenhagen, Truman; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers and sister-in-law, Alvin Borkenhagen, Truman and Marvin and his wife Dorothy, rural Amboy, MN; two sisters and brother-in-law, Viona Clow, Truman, and Arlene Green and her husband Jim, Falls Church, VA; one sister-in-law, Erna Borkenhagen, Truman; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ervin was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and one sister. Memorial contributions may be given to the United Hands Hospice, 520 South Galbraith St., Blue Earth, MN 56013.
