Funeral services for Allen Pegors, 86, rural Truman, Minnesota will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fairmont Baptist Church. Interment will be at Nashville Cemetery, rural Truman. Mr. Pegors died Saturday evening, September 25, 2004 at his home. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, at Olson-Zaharia Funeral Home, Truman and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Allen Serenus Pegors was born on February 24, 1918 on the family farm in rural Truman, to Richard and Elsie (Lang) Pegors. He attended school and graduated from Truman High School. Allen married Doretta Warnemunde on February 14, 1943 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Truman. They made their home on the family farm where Allen was born, farmed his entire life and died.
Allen was a member of Nashville Baptist Church, Emmanuel Baptist Church and attended Fairmont Baptist Church after Emmanuel Baptist Church closed. He served as deacon of his church and held many church offices and was a trustee of the Booz retirement home. Allen loved to visit with people, encourage young people at church and help those that were less fortunate. His pastimes included reading and gardening.
Allen is survived by his wife, Doretta Pegors of rural Truman, Minnesota; three daughters, Judy Morris and husband Dennis of Milton, Florida, Carol Van Ruler and husband Gary of Lakeville, Minnesota and Lana Smith and husband Tim of Eagle Grove, Iowa; one son, Wesley Pegors and wife Delrose of Hendricks, Minnesota; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Evelyn; one brother and four sisters.
