Reinhard Henry Schwieger was born March 8, 1917 to Fred and Martha (Behrens) Schwieger on the family farm. He was baptized March 18, 1917 at Zion Lutheran Church ? Fraser, rural Fairmont, MN by the Rev. Heinrich F. W. Predoehl. He was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church ? Fraser by the Rev. A.M. Beck. He attended Zion Lutheran Church ? Fraser Parochial School. Following his education he farmed his entire life on the Schwieger family farm in Fraser Township. On December 26, 1943 he was united in marriage to Elaine Moeller at Zion Lutheran Church ? Fraser by Rev. E. Koberg.
Reinhard pitched fast pitch softball for 10 years and also played outfield on many different baseball teams including the Fairmont Martins. Reinhard enjoyed sports of all kinds ? reading the sports page, listening to the Twins or the St. Louis Cardinals on the radio, and watching another game on TV, all at the same time. He also bowled for many years.
He was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church ? Fraser where he held many church offices. He sang in Zion's Men's Quartet, Men's Choir, and Mixed Choir. He was a foster parent for over 25 years, caring for many handicapped children.
Survivors include his wife Elaine (Moeller) Schwieger of rural Fairmont; sons Doyle Schwieger and his wife, Carol,of Fairmont, Lonny Schwieger and his wife, Jeanne, of rural Fairmont, Dale Schwieger at home; daughter, Maureen Balzly and her husband, Kyle, of Rock Springs, WY; 5 grandsons, Darren Schwieger and his wife, Michelle, and children, Justin and Allison; Dean Schwieger; Derek Schwieger and his wife, Karla, and children, Laura and Brandon, all of Fairmont; Reid Schwieger and his wife, Jenny, and children, Riley, Sam, and Maddy of Fairmont; Ryan Schwieger and his wife, Margaret, and children, Melynda, Makayla, and Miranda of Zimmerman, MN; sister, Juanita Rosenwinkel and her husband, Myron "Mike? of Idaho Falls, ID; 2 brothers, the Rev. Floyd Schwieger of Lovell, WY, and Leander "Andy? and his wife, Carol, of Fair Oaks, CA; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter, a brother, Ruben, two infant sisters, and a granddaughter-in-law, Denise.
