Henrietta Clara Emma Wegner

Funeral services for Henrietta Wegner, 89, of Fairmont, Minnesota will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at East Chain Lutheran Church in East Chain, Minnesota with the Rev. Robert Roettger officiating. Burial will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery in Armstrong, Iowa. Mrs. Wegner died Sunday, July 11, 2004 at Good Samaritan Center in Jackson, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at the Olson-Zaharia Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service at the church. Henrietta Clara Emma Schmidtke, the daughter of Herman and Clara (Plath) Schmidtke, was born October 19, 1914 in Wheaton, Minnesota. She attended country school and taught school. On November 24, 1937, Henrietta was united in marriage to Earl William Wegner at Armstrong, Iowa. She and her husband farmed in the Armstrong, Iowa area before moving to Minnesota in 1952. Earl died September 4, 1971. Henrietta was a homemaker and also babysat for many families in the East Chain area and was involved in many activities. She was a member of East Chain Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, Bible School and was a member of the Ladies Aid and quilters group. She was a 4-H leader and a member of the East Chain Homemakers Club. Henrietta loved flowers and assisted her husband on the farm. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Moeller and husband, Wayne of Armstrong, Iowa and LaVonne Kruse and husband, Kenneth of Jackson, Minnesota; son, Jerry Wegner and wife, Karen of Swea City, Iowa; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Petschke of Fairmont, Minnesota and Lydia Larsen of Blue Earth, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Alice Scheff and husband, Raymond of Trimont, Minnesota, Wilma Schmidtke, Lillian Johnson, Jean Sathoff, Fern Nawrocki, Flossie Pytleski, and Arlene Wegener all of Fairmont, Minnesota, Dorothy Johnson, Gladys Mart and Velda Sathoff, all of Armstrong, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Donald Wegner, Sr. of Armstrong, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Harvey in 1949; granddaughter, Amy Lynn Kruse; grandson-in-law, David McCartney; seven brothers, Ewald, Emmanuel, Edwin, Herman, Walter, Waldemar and George Schmidtke; and one sister, Elda Schmidtke.
