Funeral services for Chloris E. Nickerson, 83, of Truman, Minnesota will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman with the Rev. Nancy Linn officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park in Truman. Chloris died Sunday afternoon, June 20, 2004 at Fairmont Medical Center-Mayo Health System. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at Olson-Zaharia Funeral Home in Truman and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Chloris Elaine Meyer was born January 9, 1921 in Springfield, Minnesota, the daughter of Fred B. and Nellie (Hullstrom) Meyer. She married Russell Wayne Nickerson, April 12, 1943 and they made their home in Truman. Chloris was a very active member of her church and the community and touched many lives. She worked as an LPN from 1952 to 1992. Her husband died May 15, 1988. Chloris was active with the American Legion Auxiliary for 60 years and involved with the Martin County Council, Girls and Boys State of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of the Martin County Red Cross for 52 years, Bloodmobile coordinator for 40 years, a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church and member for 55 years and a Cub Scout Leader. She was honored with many awards, including the Clara Barton Red Cross Medal, Minnesota Mother of the Year and Martin County Senior Citizen of the Year.
Chloris is survived by one daughter, Yvonne Noorlun and husband, Lowell of Truman, Minnesota; three sons, Wayne Nickerson and wife, Connie, Brian Nickerson and wife, Karen, and Bradley Nickerson and wife, Debra, all of Truman, Minnesota; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; eleven step grandchildren; twenty-one step great-grandchildren; sisters, Audrey Connell, Leesburg, Florida, Norma England, Pioneer, California; brothers, LaMoine Meyer and wife, Anita of Tracy, Minnesota, Alan Meyer of Waseca, Minnesota and Richard Meyer and wife, Bonnie of Audubon, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Betty Lou Meyer of Marshall, Minnesota and Betty Marie Meyer of Hillsdale, Michigan; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell and two brothers, Donald Meyer and Dean Meyer.
