Rose Levina Goedeker

Funeral services for Rose L. Goedeker, 81, of Granada, Minnesota will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont with the Rev. Wade A. Daul officiating. Burial will be at Ridgelawn Memorial Park in Truman, Minnesota. Mrs. Goedeker died Thursday, June 17, 2004 at Parker Oaks in Winnebago, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2004 at Olson-Zaharia Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service at the church. Rose Levina Merritt was born December 28, 1922 at Walnut, Nebraska where she spent her childhood. She later moved to Winnetoon, Nebraska where she lived with her aunt while attending Winnetoon High School, graduating in 1940. Rose then worked as a housekeeper. On December 12, 1941 she was united in marriage to Delbert R. Goedeker at Center, Nebraska. Following their marriage, they farmed near Winnetoon, Nebraska. In 1948, they moved to Center Creek Township, Martin County, Minnesota. During the next several years, they returned twice to Winnetoon before settling on their farm in Center Creek Township where they farmed until retiring in 1980. They continued to make their home on the farm. Mr. Goedeker died on October 3, 1986. Rose was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Grefe and her husband, Jerald of Granada, Minnesota; daughters-in-law, Fern Goedeker of East Chain, Minnesota; Barbara Groehler of Victoria, Minnesota; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; half brother, Truman Merritt of Central City, Nebraska; half sister, Iola Volquardsen of Battle Creek, Nebraska. Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sons, Alvin and Loren.
