Funeral services for Hertha M. Schultz, 93, of Truman, Minnesota will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairmont with the Rev. Roger G. Abernathy officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont with the Rev. Thomas Fast officiating. Mrs. Schultz died Thursday, April 29, 2004 at the Fairmont Medical Center-Mayo Health System in Fairmont. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening, May 3, 2004 at Olson-Zaharia Funeral Home in Fairmont and one hour prior to the service at the church. Hertha M. Frautnick was born to William and Hulda (Kading) Frautnick on May 12, 1910 on the family farm in Watonwan County, Minnesota. She attended country school for six years and then two years at Immanuel Lutheran Church Parochial School in Galena Township, Martin County, Minnesota. She was baptized on June 5, 1910 and confirmed on April 13, 1924 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Galena Township. Hertha was united in marriage to John Herman Schultz on February 19, 1930 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Galena Township. Following their marriage they farmed east of Truman, Minnesota for ten years and moved to a farm east of Fairmont in Pleasant Prairie Township, Martin County in 1940. In 1948, they purchased a farm in Section 1 of Fairmont Township where they farmed until retiring in 1970. Hertha and John continued to live on the farm until moving into Fairmont in 1972. Hertha moved to the Lutheran Retirement Home in Truman in 1992. John died May 22, 1995. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fairmont since 1940, and a member of the St. Paul's LWML and Charity Club. Survivors include two sons, Gilbert Schultz and wife, Camille of Tower, Minnesota and Richard Schultz and wife, Kathy of Fairmont, Minnesota; one daughter, Delila Kusick and husband, Pat of Kingsland, Texas; eight grandchildren, Steve Schultz, Terri Carlson, Peggy Borchardt, John Borchardt, Greg Schultz, Cindy Wolter, Mike Schultz and Lauri Meares; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Elmyra Francis of Salem, Oregon; three sisters-in-law, Alma Wolter of Truman, Minnesota; Margaret Roe and husband, Jim of Auburn, California and Grace Frautnick of Mesa, Arizona. Hertha was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter in infancy; two brothers, Rudy and Bill;one sister, Renotta Smith; one son-in-law, Ted Borchardt. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Martin Luther High School.
