Funeral services for Clarence R. Splinter, 87, Truman, MN, formerly of Lewisville, MN will be held on Monday, April 19th, 2004 at 10:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, Lewisville. Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery, Madelia, MN. Mr. Splinter died Thursday evening, April 15th, 2004 at the Lutheran Retirement Home, Truman. Visitation will be at Olson-Zaharia Funeral Home, Truman, MN on Sunday afternoon from 2-4:00 pm and one hour before the services in the church.
Clarence Robert Splinter was born on May 7th, 1916 on the family farm near Willow Creek to Herman and Emma (Maas) Splinter. Clarence attended parochial school at St. John's Lutheran School-Willow Creek. Clarence worked as a farmhand until he was fifteen. He moved to Wisconsin and worked on his cousin's farm for several years. Clarence moved back to Madelia and married Delores Becker on February 4th, 1946 in Estherville, IA. They lived in Madelia for one year until moving to Lewisville. Clarence farmed in the Lewisville area for forty-five years. They moved into Truman on October 13th, 1996. Clarence entered the Lutheran Retirement Home in 2002.
Clarence was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lewisville. Clarence enjoyed playing cards, pool, fishing, going to ball games and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Clarence is survived by his wife of 58 years, Delores, Truman; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Chris of Fairmont; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cleo and John Lienert, Henderson, NV and Amy and Brad Haynes, Madelia, MN; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; one son Duwayne; two brothers and three sisters.
