Gilbert William Carl Henriksen was born on July 29, 1914 in Westford Township, Martin County, MN to Edward and Paulina (Buchholz) Henriksen. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Truman. Gilbert was a hired hand for numerous farmers in the area. On December 25, 1937 Gilbert was united in marriage to Leona Eisenbarger at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Truman. After they were married, they farmed in Nashville Township for over 60 years. Gilbert was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman. Gilbert loved farming and enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. Gilbert died on Saturday, June 30, 2009 at Truman Senior Living in Truman.

Gilbert is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David and Lin Henriksen of rural Truman, MN; three grandsons, John, Daren and Brent; 2 great grandsons, Tyler and Caleb; one great granddaughter Caitlin; three sisters, Luverna Boler, Winnebago, MN, Delores Knuth, Sherburn, MN, Lorraine Becker and her husband George, Fairmont, MN; three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Eddie “Ruth” Hendricksen, Mrs. Rudy “Ruth” Hendricksen and Vivian Paulsen; one brother-in-law, Marvin Voelker and numerous nieces and nephews. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Leona “Toadie” in 2005; four brothers, Raymond, Rudy, Eldor and Eddie; one sister, Elnora Voelker; three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman.
