| Shane was my cousin who I still think of often and truly miss what a kind and lonvig person he was. He was 6 years older than myself so growing up we weren't than close, however I do have fond childhood memories of playing with him when he visited. Being younger I always admired Shane's pursuit of knowledge, we both came from small town rural TN, I was amazed at the level of academics he accomplished and he aspired me to reach similar levels myself. I am grateful in the last years of his life I was able to reconnect and spend time with him. I was traveling for work in the summer of 2008 and happened to be in Chicago for a few days. I contacted Shane and we met up one afternoon. We had dinner and afterward strolled the U of Chicago campus, Shane pointed out significant architectural designs. We also went to some bar and talked for a couple of hours. Finally we went back to his apartment where we looked through some photos and he showed me his new musical passion (theremin). After I left I stayed in contact via email and just a few days before he passed away I was planning on returning to Chicago and was going to visit, sadly this meeting did not occur. I am lucky to have known him and I loved him very much. I would like to also thank the creators of this site, it was touching to look through the photos and read the posts. |

| Dear Ron and Marcia and Family,
You are all in my thoughts and prayers this weekend, especially on Monday. Lewis Clay was a fine man and a loving father. He will be missed, but he is resting now.
Love,
Joyce |
